The best way to clean your paintings.

The best way to clean your paintings.

Plexiglass and Dibond paintings are beautiful and durable works of art for the home, office and even museums. Like any work of art, it needs regular cleaning to maintain its shine and quality. Therefore, prevent scratches by not treating your painting correctly.

Do's and don'ts:

Can I clean my painting with glassex?

We strongly advise against cleaning your painting with a standard glass cleaner (Glassex) or alcohol-containing cleaner such as spirit. When you use these types of cleaning products, there is a good chance that the painting will be irreparably damaged. They do not dissolve dust particles and only spread them over the surface of your plexiglass and/or dibond painting, which therefore causes scratches.

Can I use a paper towel to clean my plexiglass or dibond print?

No. Paper towels vary in softness and absorbency, they can leave scratches or streaks on your plexiglass. Always use a microfiber cloth to clean plexiglass.

Tip:

With gloves you avoid fingerprints while hanging the plexiglass or dibond painting.

When your painting could use a refresh, follow these instructions to avoid those dreaded scratches!

What do you need:

  • Dishwashing liquid
  • Lukewarm water
  • Microfiber cloth (or a soft, lint-free cloth)

1. Place an old towel on your work surface.

2. Remove your painting from the wall and place it on the towel with the image facing up.

3. Blow away the dust on your plexiglass or dibond painting and then wipe it off with a soft, damp (not wet) cloth. For fingerprints, use a weakened mix of dish soap and water. (tip) use a small spray bottle with water with 1 or 2 drops of detergent

4. Gently dry the painting with a clean, soft cloth to avoid water spots.

5. Put on a pair of soft gloves to hang the painting again.
